My beliefs about teaching and learning align heavily with the standard of practice of commitment to students and student learning. My main goal as an educator is to build positive relationships with my students and put their learning and wellbeing first. It is important for me to cultivate an environment where my students feel safe, welcome and heard. I hope to create a community in my classrooms. I plan to do this by continuing to create accessible work for my students, that will be something they enjoy learning. I will allow myself and my students to be able to take risks and make mistakes in order to learn and grow. I will also foster a positive relationship between my students and myself by getting to know them and doing extra-curriculars.
